Our conversation will start with a talk from Dr. Alexey Burov, a physicist at the Fermi National Laboratory in Chicago, where he is employed as Senior Scientist. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, and the organizer and chair of Fermi Society of Philosophy.

Missio Women’s Brunch - Early Galentine’s Day Theme: What's Galentine's Day? In the words of Leslie Knope, it's the best day of the year, where women come together to kick it breakfast style. We have been invited to serve at Centennial on the day before Thanksgiving. Union Station is hosting a Thanksgiving meal for the residents and we will come alongside them to serve and to spend time with the residents. This is a GREAT opportunity. The residents really miss having an actual meal together, and we have the chance to support this. We will also share a 15-20 minute Thanksgiving liturgy with a gratitude activity to do around the tables.

Since we’ll be helping with this event before Thanksgiving, we will NOT have our regularly scheduled dessert club, which would have been the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Join us for our first Science and Faith Examined Event of this year.

Our mission with SAFE events: To create a collegial environment for the examination of faith and science questions at Caltech and beyond. We believe that the examination of questions of faith and science is absolutely vital to an open-minded and thorough search for truth.

Our monthly meetings follow a simple format: Eat a meal, listen to a talk by a prominent scientist or philosopher, and discuss in groups of eight to ten. Please register here so that we have an accurate count for pizza.

Josh Brake is an Assistant Professor of Engineering at Harvey Mudd College where he has been on the faculty since 2019. He has a Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech and an M.S. and B.S. in Engineering with an electrical concentration from LeTourneau University. Kurt Keilhacker is a General Partner at Elementum Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture capital fund focused on deep tech. He has been a co-founder, CEO, or Board Director at several technology companies. . Kurt is a graduate of Wheaton College and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago, an MLA from Stanford, and an MTS from Harvard.

This summer we’re hosting bi-weekly movie nights!

Do any of us have free will, or are our lives planned out for us—by parents? Context? God? Destiny? If we are married, for example, did we really choose our mate, or is there some more primary sense in which we were chosen for each other? The Adjustment Bureau seeks to get at these questions, as two lovers seek to defy a predestined plan, in which the lovers both have successful careers but are not together.

The format is simple: we’ll watch a movie together and then spend some time in discussion about the movie as a group. Snacks and drinks provided. If you are a movie buff, come through, if not, still come through for the hangs! Invite friends as well—all are welcome as this is a great way for people to get integrated into the Missio community.
